Desijournal.com is a labor of love. It exists because we believe that there are important stories to be told and important experiences to be shared in our straddling the gap lives in our adopted countries. We enjoy nurturing new authors and publishing points of view that do not have a place anywhere else. The best reward of all is when we receive private email messages and public comments from readers who find in our content something that reflects their own life experience or something that gives them new ways of looking at their own lives.
Operating the web site involves certain ongoing expenses web site hosting, web site design and programming, editing and communication with authors. To date, a model for generating revenue from a web site such as Desijournal (e-zine / community-builder / literary journal) has not emerged. Pop-up ads and flashing banners are distracting and a nuisance when one wants to concentrate on the content of the web site.
If you agree with the Desijournal mission and feel it is a valuable addition to your reading life, please consider making a financial contribution to the web site. Apart from helping us defray some of the costs associated with operating the web site, a contribution will be a vote of confidence in the work that we do and will boost our resolve to keep going. We suggest a contribution of $20. Consider it a one-year subscription to an online magazine. Larger and smaller contributions are, of course, very welcome.
We have arranged with Paypal to make it easy for you to charge the contribution to a credit card.
If you would prefer not to use Paypal, please email us at publisher@desijournal.com and we will be happy to make other arrangements.
